Splitting Recordings in the Editor
WireTap Studio's lossless and non-destructive editor can split a recording into separate tracks based on various parameters with no loss of quality or audio to the original recording.
The recording is left in its original condition and the split pieces are saved to the library.
Easily edited fades are automatically added to the beginning and end of each split track. For more on fades, see Using Fades in the Editor
To Split a recording:
- Select a recording in the library and click on the Edit button, or simply double click the file.
NOTE: To edit a file not recorded by WireTap Studio go to the File menu and select Open... Go to the Editor menu and select Split Audio...
...to open the Split drop down sheet.
- Enter the name of the split tracks. WireTap Studio will automatically increment each split track.

Use the Split on menu to set the criteria to split on.
WireTap Studio can split a recording into files of equal file size, equal duration or on markers set in the recording. For more on markers, see Using Markers.
- Click on OK and WireTap Studio will split the recording based on the parameters set in the Split on menu.
